Accounting Policy Jobs

The position is accountable for leading fortune 200 Financial Service company efforts designed to ensure that the company’s financial statements are prepared in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (“GAAP”) and the rules and regulations of the Securities and Exchange Commission (“SEC”). In addition, the position is responsible for directing the following key activities and processes:

• Proper interpretation and application of GAAP to company's business operations, including development and documentation of significant accounting policies

• Coordination of company's monthly and quarterly financial close process

• Consolidation of financial statements

• Preparation of financial reports for both management and external purposes, including annual report to shareholders and SEC filings
• Coordination of annual audit and quarterly reviews of financial statements by independent accountants

Major users of these activities include senior financial and operating management of companys and its parent company , the Boards of Directors of compay and subsidiaries, and external parties such as shareholders, analysts and investors, and regulatory authorities.

The incumbent possesses significant knowledge, experience and expertise in the application and interpretation of technical accounting, reporting and disclosure requirements and in corporate accounting and financial reporting practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting and CPA required; MBA desirable.

• At least ten years of experience in positions responsible for technical accounting activities, application/interpretation of GAAP and corporate financial reporting (including both management reporting and external/SEC reporting).

• Should have familiarity with SAP and other commonly-used financial system tools, as well as subject matter expertise in areas such as consolidations, business combinations, derivative instruments, intangible assets and impairments, equity method of accounting, asset retirement obligations, revenue recognition, income taxes and stock-based compensation.

• Previous experience in Big 4 public accounting firm and public company required; previous experience in financial services or insurance industry desirable.
